This piece was made by a group of Matthew’s Hub adult members and parents of youth members, alongside contributions from staff.

The work celebrates Ye Olde White Harte - a well loved pub in the old town area of Hull.

The group met on a fortnightly basis with 1 member joining remotely. The sessions involved sharing skills and ideas and a great deal of problem solving! The group had a research trip to the pub to take photos and learn about the history of the building.

The group took inspiration from the stained glass windows for the intricatley made beaded border. The piece features a beautifully made harte, surrounded by crocheted flowers and foliage - a nod to the flowers in the enclosed beer garden. Those familiar with the pub will recognise other features, the plotting parlour, the sword, the skull and perhaps less well known, the horses depicted on wall tiles. Why not visit the pub for your own ‘research’ trip!

Thank you to everyone involved in the project for thier kindness and generosity.
