Hull City Football Club are based in Kingston upon Hull, and they are also known as the Tigers. They are now back in the top tier of English football - the Premier League and are defying the pundits with their top 10 position. Hull City play their home games at the MKM Stadium in West Park, a stones throw from our community. The club's traditional home colours are black and amber, often featuring a striped design on the shirt, hence their nickname, the Tigers.

The piece was created by different groups from Hull YFC (Youth Faith Community). We are a small charity based in the HU3 area of Hull known for the Boulevard, Hessle Road and the fishing community. We work with children, young people and their families (see our website here: www.hullyfc.co.uk). Members of our women's sewing group - ORTS, designed and created the tigers face using scraps of fabric, our after school children's and youth groups contributed to the weaving of the stripes and made some of the pompoms you see at the corners of the panel, with others given by one of our breakfast club volunteers. The letters were created with felt and sewn onto the woven stripes by hand by the ORTS sewing group.
