Jacksons of Yorkshire

The company was started as a grocery store by William Jackson over 170 years ago. He decided to add bread to the grocery store's goods and now they pride themselves by providing better quality baked goods to more people.

Maker

Retired trading systems analyst and programmer. I've been living in Hull for 7 years and moved to be closer to my daughters and their families. Now have 6 grandkids.

Joined Yap and Yarn about 2 years ago to improve my crochet skills and to meet new people. I've been knitting since about the age of 10 (mainly self-taught)

Project

I decided to use a picture of Jacksons' old truck as the focus. I asked co-pilot (windows AI) for a picture of a typical spring-time English countryside to use as a background. Then I added grid lines to make a chart for the stitches and rows. And finally superimposed the Jacksons truck on to the country lane and rotated it to match the lane direction. The blossom on the trees was done with French knots, the wheels are crocheted and the words are embroidered.

A big thank you to everyone who kindly donated their scrap yarn.
