Situated between Holderness Road and James Reckitt Avenue, East Park is one of Hull's best-loved parks. It fully opened in 1887 and features, amongst other things, a boating lake, an Animal Education Centre, a library and one of only two remaining Wicsteed splashboats in the country. It also plays host to a range of events, including Hull Libraries' annual children's literature festival The Big Malarkey.

This piece, which references some of the attractions mentioned above, was started at the 2026 Big Malarkey, where nearly 100 children and their (grand) parents helped to weave part of the background. This included the project's youngest participant, a 7 month old baby girl!

The panel was then finished by project organisers Hanna and Miranda, incorporating animals and insects created by the Big Malarkey's Young Producers group and a wallaby made by Cat Kay. It also features 110 leaves with hand-embroidered names, one for every person who contributed to the piece.
